In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Close Up.”
Drift wood from the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge,Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
The next picture is from a tree in my yard. They are the first pine cones the tree has grown. I’m excited to see how they turn out.
Thanks for stopping by!
The driftwood looks like oak down Acorn woodpeckers, but I wouldn’t espect to find them in your area. Must be an insect.

The nature guide just said it was from sea worms. We were beachcombing there.

I love looking at driftwood every piece so different. What kind of pine is it? We don’t have many in Australia. You must be excited to see the new cones. Thank you for sharing.

I’m not sure what kind of wood it is. A cattle ship sunk in 1892 off the coast. It could be from that since the nature tour guide said they were finding bit’s and pieces on the beaches. I also found a spinal vertebrae they thought was from a cow. ~Julia
